Can I use my Windows Product Key to install Linux?

I wanted to try the Linux version to see if it is more stable on my system - I did the install, but it won't take my (Windows) product key.

I guess it's safe to assume that the license is different?

Damn.... I was so close to getting it installed to try out...

Thanks for any info.

Sage does not currently have any method for you to 'try before you buy' regarding the linux version. I can say this, it works the same as the windows version, you just have all the hassles of getting linux to work.

I see.... I was just hoping it worked because I wanted to see if the drivers were more stable - I have been having issues with losing my IR and a USB/2 tuner once it a while. I am fairly stable at version 3.0.7, but it if upgrade to 4.x or 5.x I have major driver issues with the USB/2 - I just wanted to see if the Linux environment would let me enjoy Sage more.

I installed Gentoo, and got to the point of Sage asking for the the key, so I tried my Windows key and it did not work, so I figured I would post here and verify it that was in fact the case...

Thanks!
