I want to start off by saying that I did print out a copy of my liscences and kept the email. But the bro-in-law that was staying with us purposely trahed my PC and threw out my small plastic filing cabinet with all my tax info, reciepts, birth certificates etc...

I did not find the other thread mentioned on what I could do?

Contact SageTV or the place where you purcahsed the license.

Check this FAQ: I lost my license key, how can I get a copy of it again? (2nd question in that post)

If it were me, I'd make the SOB buy new ones, even though you can get your old ones back. What, if I may ask, possessed him to trash your PC & stuff? I'd definitely bring charges on all that too...

I'd second the thought about bringing him up on charges. The Birth Certificate will be an important thing and will cost money and time to replace. With today being what it is I'd see to it that he pays dearly for what he did.

The other advice is right on target, don't sweat the key it's easily replaced via an email.

When he lost his place and asked to stay with us I told him he had 2 weeks to find a new job and 1 month to start paying something towards his food and utility use.
2 Months later and no job, no money so I said bye bye....
Imagine that, asking for someone to pay their own way.
That is the fourth in law to stay with us in the last 4 years. And the last too.

Luckily my accountant kept my returns for the last five years.

Nahhh... She is great. She is a fantastic cook, lets me buy all my toys, doesn't complain when I spend alot of time using them, works, goes to school, helps with house and kids etc....
We both have hearts that are just too big. She is NOTHING like her family and is just as pissed off as I am.
I think we both learned our lesson about opening our home up.

I'd suggest you file a police report to have an official record that the items were not destroyed by you. The police report may help you obtain replacement documents.

It does change your world view when people take advantage of you that way. I hope things work out well for you and your wife!
