Recording a very long show - any problems?

I plan on recording a live event that may be 10 - 15 hours long. Are there any potential problems in doing this? Is there a maximum file size issue or anything like that that would cause problems. I really wish there was a way to have Sage automatically record it in 1-hour chunks (each hour in a separate file) or something like that - is that possible?

Assuming you're using NTFS on your drives, not FAT32, you're good to go. NTFS is only constrained by the 2 TeraByte Volume size limitation.

I think there is a property for file size limit, not 100% sure though. I'll let someone else confirm it.

But the other way to do it is to break the recordings down into 15 consecutive manual recordings, each one 1 hour long, that will give you the one hour chunks you want.

I don't think there is on NTFS, if you're using FAT32, i'm 99% sure that Sage simply breaks files when it hits (or gets close to) the 4GB (or is it 2) filesize limitation.

FWIW, I've got a 9GB recording on my NTFS drive, I'm pretty sure I've made bigger ones.

I've only made a few 3 hour DVD-max quality recordings on my NTFS drive. The files were 12GB in size-no problem, just took a long time to transfer to my editing workstation. I haven't done any recordings over 3 hours long.

I would be worried about the HD overheating if the case has poor cooling.
