Ability to split a video file?

I would like to know if other Sage users would find it useful to have the ability to automatically split a video file when its size reaches a certain user defined value. For example, a 2.5GB file could be split into 3 segments if the limit is set to 1GB. Currently I'm hitting the 2GB limit when I post a video file on my WEB server for download.

I would appreciate any suggestions, even if it is done outside Sage, as long as it can be done in some automated way.

Hmm - for a video that long, I think I would just compress the video to mp4 format. For me, I'm taking Sage videos at 3 gb/hour and compressing them to about 250-300mb hour in mp4 with virtually no loss of quality. I suppose the only drawback would be if the client downloading does not have an mp4 player. Also, one can gain further reduction by removing commercials.
