Sluggish (not choppy) Playback/LiveTV
Ok i'm hoping i can get some help as this is driving me crazy..
i have a PVR250, AMD 2200+ (32Bit), GF6600, 768Mb Ram all settings are default except Video Decoder: Nvidia Pure Video (not the post process) Audio: Cyberlink 3d Accel: On FSE: Off just recently livetv and recording playback has become slugish, like a slow motion.. i tried different decoders/3d on off and FSE on off and nothing i do fixes the problem.. i tried to just play back the files using media player and they playback perfectly.. any ideas or suggestions? |

There have been several reports of a memory leak the the Java package from Sun. Can you post what version you are using?
Sage is currently shipping version 1.4 as the leak occurs with most of the more recent ones that have been tested. -PGPfan

As far as I know, you can remove 1.05 via the Control Panel in Windows. Sage 'should' have installed 1.04 automatically and it should still be there once 1.05 is gone. If not, just reinstall it from the Sage software.

FSE off? are you using overlay?

I use Overlay (i get poor performance with VRML)..
i've tried FSE on/off i've tried 3d on/off i even went so far as to uninstall sagetv completely (lost my favorites - bah!) and reinstall and it now plays jerky on live TV and slow-motion on recorded stuff.. yet when i try and watch them using media player it plays perfect.. during the uninstall i also reverted back to Java 1.4 (the one with SageTV) and it didn't seem to make a difference.. i tried updating the video card drivers (latest for the GF6600) i'm at a loss here as to why only SageTV is having the problem.. are there some tweaks i don't have access to in the menu? is there a log file somewhere i can look (the log files i saw where from a month ago).. also just an FYI, they changed the installation default path for SageTV (another argg) to be PF/SageTV instead of PF/Frey Tech.../SageTV i'm not sure what else i can do except a complete reformat and install of WinXP to try and solve the problem... |

Somethings i should add
My CPU Usage is about 30% when watching TV (higher if its an HD Channel) and using the Nvidia PureVideo, if i use the Cyberlink it goes up to 65% but stays choppy/slow motion.. when i watch it using my PS computer (at zero compression) it plays perfect.. |

after a bit of investigation i finally tracked down the problem..
for some odd reason WindowsXP had put my HD into PIO Mode only (instead of UDMA6).. i ended up having to move the HD to another IDE channel to get it back into DMA6 mode.. |
