Linux Client from USB Thumbdrive??

I have a thumbdrive that I've been able to get Linux to boot from.. I was wondering... does anybody or has anybody considered creating a linux distro that is bootable from a thumbdrive that can run the sagetv client? This could be a diskless system.. A network card, video card and CPU would be all it would need...

Could this be done?

This could end up being the thinnest of thin clients..
