Poor Wireless MVP connection

So I finally gave up trying to get a good signal from my wireless-g router and hardwired my two wireless MVPs. Does anyone have an explanation why the antenna reception is so poor on the wireless MVPs?

I can turn my laptop on in the exact same spot the wireless MVP is and get full signal. From the setup screen on the MVP, I only show 2 out of 5 bars! Not to mention, everything is choppy.

I grabbed the alpha.bin from one of the previous threads, so I've gotten that issue taken care of (I used to get the blinking screen). I'm just curious why the wireless reception is so bad? It quite literally makes them useless. For the amount that I purchased 2 wireless MVPs from the SageTV store, I would have been *much* better off getting 3 wired MVPs for the same price.

Is anything being done about the poor singal quality?
