Need to increase volume

I have my HTPC running Sagetv client connected to my plasma tv. I have the volume on the HTPC and the plasma turn all the way up, but still it's not that loud. Is there a way to increase the volume on the HTPC beyond it's max setting? Maybe a reg change or something?

Thanks

Open the Windows Volume Control app:

Windows Start button > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control

Then try tweaking the sliders here. Sometimes, the main volume setting is too low, and sometimes the "WAV setting is too low. Tweaking these should give you full control over the volume enabling you to increase it to a decent leve.

Low quality audio built into the motherboard can also cause this. I had a bad problem with low volume audio on my initial HTPC setup, even though I thought I had chosen a motherboard with higher quality audio (since it was MicroATX, I didn't want to take up a PCI slot for sound). The problem totally went away when I added a Audigy NX USB sound module. The onboard audio just didn't have sufficient output to drive the audio input on my TV setup.
