Overdriven sound?
Hi. I have a MediaMVP and the sound out of it is distorted, like the recording levels were too high on the line in. This happens whether I use the digital or analogue-out lines from the MediaMVP. However, if I watch the same program downstairs from the TV hooked directly to my computer, I don't get this problem.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe SageTV sends a digital audio signal to the MediaMVP, which is maybe encoded at too high a frequency? I'm no expert on this, but I remember something about my old Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 computer speakers (still in use with one of my TVs) only accepting a digital in at 44kHz, not 48, and having to change a setting on the computer, but that's a long shot and I don't remember how to change the setting ... and I think it might have been SoundBlaster Live-specific.
My server gets its line in from my Hauppauge PVR-250. I use s-video for the video. I have SageTV 5.x (downloaded a couple weeks ago) and am using the onboard sound of my MSI KT7A motherboard.
Thanks for any ideas anyone has,
- Andrew.
P.S. Here's a funny one too, unrelated: I wired our house myself and am new at it. I have ethernet on both sides of a wall. The MediaMVP doesn't work with the ethernet cable in the TV room, although it DOES work with the cable in the adjacent bedroom. So now I have to run a wire BACK from the bedroom through a grate to the TV room, even though the two Powerbooks I've plugged into the TV room ethernet outlet work fine. Go figure. Finicky little piece of kit...
