Serial IR Blaster, and Serial IR Reciever

I was wondering if SageTV can support a serial IR Blaster and IR Reciever. I know that there is a WINLIRC and I thought that that might work. The USB-UIRT looks really bulky, and the serial ones that are small and I can attatch a lot like the Huappague on that I have on my old HTPC. I'm building a new HTPC with a low-profile case and the USB option just doesn't seem good unless I can get one that sticks on the reciever like the Huappague PVR-150.
If someone knows a solution that would get as close to the same setup as the PVR-150 I would appreciate it.

Also if I install sageTV with the Hauppage remote and then make WINLIRC learn the commands will the Serial IR Reciever work, if I set it to the Hauppage remote setting?

Thanks for the help

To use an IR receiver/blaster that isn't directly supported by SageTV, you would need to use some other program to interact with it, such as Girder, HIP, or whatever program can talk to it.

Or, you could write an input plugin so that SageTV could interact directly with the IR hardware, but you would have to write the program -- see the "Write Your Own Plugin to Control SageTV" link on the SageTV Configuration page.

Thanks for the reply! I can see that writing the would work for the IR reciever, but what commands do I use to write the script for the Blaster. I will have the following on serial ports: COM1: Matrix Orbital VFD, COM2: IR Reciever, COM3:IR Blaster.
Also I was wondering why the Actisys IR-200L built in configuration work with a generic Blaser, are then not the same in since they are both using the serial interface and sending raw commands?

Thanks

Actisys IR-200L and a generic Blaster are NOT the same. Suppoted blasters for Sage are the Actisys IR-200L and the USB-UIRT.
