OTA HD Channel Mapping

When I first hooked up my HD tuner, Sage mapped the channels real nicely, for example NBC 5 was mapped 5-1, 5-2, 5-3 etc. Well I remapped a couple of channels, like 5-1, to channel 4 since my remote doesn't have a hyphen. Anyway I got a new antenna, I got some more channels. I went to remap some because I needed more numbers, well I decided to start from scratch so I set the channels to default. Now the are scattered all over the map, 5-1 is now its real DTV channel at 47. How can I get Sage to send them back to the original tuner number? I went as far as removing the source and starting over, but to no avail.

Remapping channels changes the actual numbers that it tries to tune to.

If you've remapped an existing channel in Channel Setup, you should be able to select the Remap button & clear the remapping to return it to its original value. I'm not sure if that is what you were asking, though.

heh. I was about come on and post the same question. From day one I have had all my channels set to the real DTV channel (47 in your example). Which is annoying because I have a Hauppauge card as well so it would be nice to see channel 5 next to 5-1. I was never able to re-map the channels even when I try to do it manually. Then when I installed the new Sage release I was playing around with scanning for new channels, and then all of a sudden the channels were in order by the 5, 5-1, etc.

I don't really know what I did, and I don't want to fool with it for the fear that it will go back to the other way. Now I just built a Sage computer for my parents and I would like to be able to order the channels in the 5, 5-1 order, but I can't figure out how.

Anybody that can shed some light on this for us would be a big help.

Thanks,
Flips

Opus,

Yeah, I figured that out the hard way.

When I clear the the remapping, instead of going to 5-1, which it was originally was at, it sets to 47 which is the actual DTV number.

Flips,

To fix it I had to scan for channels and let it finish, previously I had stopped it after 31-1 because that is last channel I watch.
