If they are only allowing connection to Viiv compatible PC's then this will not be a contender. The Viiv's use heavy DRM and encryption (much like HDCP control) on their streams and if it is required, well, you will need a Viiv PC

From what I've read, this unit does not need VIIV to operate but...Certain functions are disabled and the setup is not quite as smooth. I would just like another extender option besides Hauppauge. I have never had good luck with their hardware...
