DirectTV Serial Control

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Sku=C184-02711

The above is the cable I bought to control my Box through Sage. I went through the tuner setup and selected DirecTV serial and Com1 - but it's not doing anything...any help? Does the directtv box need to be setup also?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi,

Have you ever had this working before? What DTV box are you using? The reason I ask is because I am using a couple of old Sony SAT-A2 boxs and they will not work with the serial control .dll file in the latest version of sage. I had to substitute the .dll file from Sage V4 to get them to work once I upgraded to V5. Certainly this is not the case with all DTV boxs, but you may want to post which box you are using and see if anyone else has it working and if so with which .dll file.

Let us know.

Jesse

That looks like a standard serial cable, so the pin outs would not be correct for controlling a DirecTV box.

Actually, read this thread:

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...t=17888&page=3

I am hoping that they will implement it. I submitted a support ticket a few weeks ago, asking if the devs had seen the research, and the reply was yes, but I don't know if they have actually done anything about it yet, as they have probably been working hard on v6

DirecTv serial control

If your DirecTv box has a home control (or sometimes called low speed data) on the back, you can make one that connects to your COM port. see www.dtvcontrol.com. I know it works with my RCA DTV box

What kind of DirecTV box do you have? The D10-100 is the one you want. I have 3 serial cables working flawlessly with my DTV boxes on my file server. I posted a picture on a thread I can find for you a while back if you are using the D10-100 (picture is worth a thousand words).
