How to use XMLTV feed
I'm in the UK and trying to use an XMLTV feed in SageTV. I've generated the xml file and followed the instructions to use the Plugin.
I selected the DishTV listings as instructed. Whe I go into SageGuide, the lowest channel number is 100 and the names are all wrong. How do I go about setting the correct channels? How can I get channels 1 through 99? E.,g 105 is ParamountComedy. If I select that channel and say to map to another channel, I get something like "105 - Paramount USA Network", the USA Network being the original channel name. If I go into the guide and select that channel, SageTV doesn't change to channel 105. (I can manually change channels) Is there some file I can edit to fix these channel mappings? Is anyone using this with UK listings? |

Is there no one that can help me??
Is there no one that uses an XMLTV feed with SageTV and can help me?
This is my last obstacle, and if I can get this working, I think I would be prepared to buy SageTV, but without proper listings, SageTV is useless to me. While I prefer the functionality of SageTV over SnapStream, at least I can get program data into SnapStream. In doing some more research, it seems that the instructions in the link off of www.sage.tv is incorrect, or old, e.g, it says to select the "DISH Network" listings, but in reviewing some previous forum posts, it seems that I should actually see an "XMLTV Listings" selection. Also, how do channel IDs in the XML file get mapped to an actual channel/tuner number? I looked at the java code, and the xml document and I can't figure that out. In the java code, the method Channel.getTunerChannel() alwasy returns a -1 (meaning no tuner channel) I'm thinking that "something" is missing, which is why I can't change channels from within the SageGuide. |

Yes, you should see an XMLTV Listings selection... If you don't, it means that your plugin is incorrectly installed, or incorrectly configured.. The thing that got me is that the properties file is sensitive to spaces, and when I copy-pasted the epg/epg_import_plugin line from the instructions page, there was a space at the end of the line, which meant that the class name was wrong... Other than that, I had to:
Now it all seems to be OK and I have a comfortable channel order, matching my TV (note: in my config, I have 55 channels of broadcast cable TV -- ie the PVR-250 retunes to the frequency directly, no set-top box to tune using IR/DirectTV) There are more XMLTV posts in the SageTV Service forum... |

Thanks for your help on this. I think my problem was in the properties file at the end of line with the plugin class name. Although I didn't have a space (I checked), I must have had some other hidden character. I went to the end of the line, hit "DELETE", which caused the next line to move up to where my cursor was. I then hit "ENTER" once to move the next line back. Once I saved and exited and started up SageTV, I could see the "XMLTV Listing" as an option.
I remapped all my channels and it works fine. I still have to go back in and do the hack I saw in another forum posting so I can get channels in my list, even though I don't have XMLTV data for it. |
