Caveat with Modify Stop Time of recording

While testing (for me only not Frey) I took a scheduled 1 hour program listing and told SageTV to stop after 15 minutes. After 30 minutes I viewed the program to see the results. Much to my surprise the program time was at the 30 minute mark. It appears that when I went to view the program it started recording the program again. SageTV created 2 files for this show the first 15 min. and then the following 30 mins. When the program ended recording contined on this same channel but with the next program in the guide. I had to stop recording by using the don't like feature. I think the root cause of this problem is that when the first 15 min. recording completed the listing was not removed from the shows to record.

Bottom line this 15 minute recording ended up with 45 mins and part the next program. I don't know how long recording would have continued if I had not seen what was happening.

The continuation of the recording of the next show is a bug that should be fixed. I have seen this before while viewing a show in which the recording was not yet completed.

BTW: What I was hoping to test is to see if the time counter is true time or a relative indicator. I have reason to believe it is relative. I expected it to show that in 15 minutes I viewed a 1 hour hour. In other words after 7.5 minutes the time would indicate 30 minutes into the program. Anyone know for sure about this issue?

I have a similar complaint...but because of time shifting always being on it is not exactly a bug. If you try to view a recording from the active recording list or the guide instead of the recorded shows this behavior will happend because from sagetvs view you are watching live at a delayed time. I frequently will start watching a favorite that is still being recorded. I would love an option to tell sagetv that I only want to watch this show as if it was already recorded instead of time shifted live tv.

Also another way that 99% of the time works for stopping sagetv from recording all shows that follow is to put sagetv to sleep. I always do this after watching livetv or else it will record shows on that channel until the sleep timeout is reached. I have only seen one situation where the client disconnected and livetv continued to record no matter what I did. I eventually had to stop sagetv and start it again.
