Video stutter, Sage and Hauppauge Drivers

Looking for some help in installing Hauppauge drivers (or any other ideas).

I am still plauged by video "stutters" while watching "live TV" or recorded material through Sage. I believe this is the "Frame Replay" issue that has been reported on SHS's forum. I've confirmed these "stutters" are in the recorded content.

I have been running Hauppauge driver version 21143. Thought I'd update to the latest 21272. I am simply unable to get a smooth install of new drivers without breaking SageTV. Very frustrating.

My "process" is to:
1) Exit SageTV
2) Follow SHS's recommended de-install/re-install process for XP as found at: http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3395
3) Restart Sage

Without exception Sage does not recognize a video capture card in the system or the Hauppauge remote (yes, I execute "Restart IR").

I end up having to do a system restore to get me back to a working system.

So first, what am I doing wrong when trying to update Hauppauge drivers. Second, am I looking at the wrong solution to my problem?

Tom

I have installed and uninstalled the latest drivers about a dozen times. Each time I followed the instructions on Hauppauges website. The instructions look similar to the ones at SHS. You don't mention that you are rebooting. Also, make sure Sage is not set to run at startup.

Thanks mlbdude. I did have Sage startup automatically. After disabling auto restart, Sage was able to find the driver on a clean install of Hauppauge drivers. However, Sage still can't find the Hauppauge remote. I stop and restart IR, then restart Sage. Remote is not seen. Rebooting does nothing.

After resetting to an older restore point, all is well (other than the original frame replay problem).

Any thoughts?

Is it possible on your last install of Sage you did not check the "Install Hauppage Remote support" option, and that by restoring a an earlier point you are restoring to a Sage installation where you had selected it?

To be on the safe side, from your functioning setup copy your irremote.ini in your Windows directory to another directory. Install the new drivers. Restart your PC. Stop the remote control software. Copy your irremote.ini from your safe place to your Windows directory. Reboot the whole thing. Your remote should now function OK in SageTV. Hope this helps.
