Video Render Error

Ok, just started getting this error, with no changes to the computer at all.

Files that worked yesterday, are now not working.

"There was a Playback Error in playback. Details:
sage.PlaybackException: Error (-4,0
x8004022f): There was a problem rendering the
video portion of the content for playback."

Any show I try to watch, I get that. I've not updated drivers, updated sage, anything, and I get that every time. And dammnit, tonight was the premier of BattleStar Galatica an I better not have missed it!

Very common error and it does "happen out of the blue." I have found, the guaranteed fix is to go into Detailed Setup, Video/Audio and set the Video Renderer to Default and also set the Audio Rendere to Default. If that works then you can try other settings such as Overlay, etc. But, I would start with Default and that should fix the problem.

I saw this happen when I changed from purevideo to a different renderer to see if I could improve quality. Anything I'd recorded previous to the change would yield the playback exception error. When I switched back to the purevideo, I could playback with no issues.

Hope this helps.

That works sometimes, but not always.

Anytime I get a playback error the first thing I do is reboot because if you haven't made any changes then it should work properly after a reboot. If it doesn't then I start mucking around with settings.
