What would be nice to have ...

And maybe its availabe in one form or another.

A little software on my PC giving me the status of the MVP (or other SageTV clients for that matter). Things like a signal when one is connecting, letting me know what's it doing (roughly).

This way one could see on the server PC what's happeing on the network.

Just a thought ...

You should probably take a look ay Nielm's web server. WHen you set it up and use it the home page will tell you who is connected and what's being recorded.

Gerry
I (I'm using this smily often these days).

I must admit I never knew about this web server. Yes, I had seen it mentioned as some places, but being a 'standard' out-of-the-box user never got into it. But I did now look for it, found it and will (try to) install it.

Thanks for the tip/feedback

I love the webserver. I can pretty much control the MVP from anywhere. Like if I'm sitting in the den and the kids want to watch a movie, I just connect and tell it to start playing some flick and tell the kids to walk into the other room and turn on the TV. I don't even have to get up!

Now, it would also be cool to see that functionality wrapped into the server or placeshifter clients.

I installed it, to my surprise it was fairly easy to do so.

My first impression is great, putting this on a web server available via internet allows one to do all this from everywhere.

Now I need to 'play around' a bit to understand the finer details of what it can all do.

I do very much like the Program Guide and how it works, it does display more info on one page as via SageTV. It also seems quicker to react.

Thanks for this

I use the webserver daily from work to get a glance at what sage is doing and make sure it's scheduled to record what I expect it to record that evening. And quite often I'll find a show I didn't know about and remotely schedule it.

The webserver is one of the best features.
