Padding Problem

I have a favorite set to add 30 minutes of padding at the end of the show (it's hockey). So the show is 2 hours 30 minutes plus 30 minutes of padding.

The problem I have is the padding is recorded as a separate, um, segment (?). In other words, at the 2:30 mark, the playback continues, but the timeline on the bottom of the screen begins at 0:00, and there's a short blip as the 2:30 segment transitions to the new segment. Also, I can't rewind from the new segment to the previous one.

On my old DVR, any padding I added was simply added to the program's main segment. I could FF/RW anywhere in the whole show, including the padded part. Is there a way to do this in Sage?

It sounds like you are watching live TV... is that right? I'm also guessing that you have the option enabled to remove padding on back to back favs on the same channel, found in Detailed Setup -> Customize. Is the show right after the game also a fav that it should be recording?

There may be an interaction between some or all of those things that gets rid of the padding. And, depending on which one(s) are being acted upon, the dumping of the padding may or may not be expected behavior.

I'm not sure if it qualifies as "live tv". To get to the show, I went through the "SageTV Recordings" menu. The show was still being recorded when I started watching, but ended long before I got to the "second segment" (i.e., the padded portion) in my viewing.

As for back-to-back favorites, there was no favorite after the first one. Just the 2 hour 30 minute hockey game plus 30 minutes of padding on the end.

If you are watching a show while it is recording, that qualifies as 'Live TV'.

BTW: What version of SageTV are you using?

And when it finishes recording and I'm still watching? Should this affect the playback?

BTW: To follow up on this further, you should make sure to enable debug logging & submit the log to SageTV if it happens again. If you happen to have debugging on already & saved the log from when this occurred, you could submit that log.

Since there was no fav being recorded after the current recording, padding probably shouldn't have been dropped.
