Group by Season - Feature Suggestion..

Has anybody already found a way to group SageTV Recordings not only by show, but by season? Is that data available to sage in any way? There are some shows I'd like to catch up on, but when they get recorded it is nearly impossible to determine which show came in which order and in what season.. sure would be nice to have a 'Galactica - Season 1' subfolder within Battlestar Galactica.. or some other such episodic show..

Unfortunately, SageTV's show data doesn't include the season number, but it does have the original air date which you can use to sort your shows. However, using the default SageTV Recordings menu, you need to look at the Recording Detail to figure out where your list of recordings changes from one season to the next.

Personally, I use my (malore) style SageTV Recordings and sort by ShowID(reversed). When there is a big jump in number, it means that it is a different season.

After I record a show that I want to keep full seasons of, I cut out the commercails, encode to mp4 and place them in an Import Folder.
My Galactica folder is "M:\TV\SciFi\Galactica\New\Season1"
And in that folder I have:
0x00 Miniseries.mp4
1x01 33.mp4
1x02 Water.mp4
etc...
I find out the seasons by using http://www.tv.com
Now I used to be able to keep the episode details with the prior versions of Sage by creating a .my or .xml file, but Sage seemed to drop this ability with the newest beta, I hope someone can implement this soon.

Yeah, it can be done if you do a lot of legwork by looking up episode names and such.. I was just wondering if that information was embedded somehow in the show ID.. or if perhaps an IMDB lookup could be done to determine such things.. it is something a skilled programmer would have to do, not I.. but it sure would be nice! My wife had me record all 'rerun and firstruns' of project runway.. I think I got 30 episodes in a 7 day period.. but they are such a hopeless mix of 3 seasons that I deleted them all and am renting her the DVD's instead..

Who creates the show ID? Is that Zap2it? Maybe I can email them and suggest embedding not only episode numbers and such, but season info.. I'm sure this would be helpful to a lot of us..

Using IMDB for last weeks Galactica entitled "Exodus: Part 1" shows in the General field: "AiringDate: 13 October 2006 (Season 3, Episode 3)"

Don't know if all shows do that, but it seems possible to look that stuff up and store it optionally for sorting purposes??

Season Episode Information

If anyone knows how I can get this info using the episode ID (get season information) . I would be more then happy to code it up so it becomes automated.
