Client reconnect after standby

I have a living room HTPC that's running the SageTV client. I have it set so that when you press power on the MCE remote, the computer goes into standby. Pressing power resumes the computer from standby.

My problem is that when the computer resumes from standby, the SageTV client gets confused and sits at the "waiting to reconnect to the SageTV server" message for 2-3 minutes.

Is there a way to set the SageTV client to standby more gracefully? Perhaps force a disconnect on standby and a reconnect 5-10 seconds after resume?

Hmm, I've never had that problem. Do you put Sage Client to sleep before putting the computer into standby? I do that and never had a problem.

Make sure you set the network card device properties so that the computer can't put the network card to sleep. And sometimes when you come out of sleep and end up at that screen just hit the back button.

I've find the back button to work for me also when this happens. Its almost as if it has already connected but forgot you change the screen to reflect the connection.

I get that message and I am not even running client/server setup. It is just one box with service running.

I have the NIC's powersave set to disabled. Still, when the computer resumes from standby, the NIC drops the connection and reconnects. The brief disconnect is enough to confuse the SageTV client.
