Random 0x80040111 watching live tv
So I just bought SageTV and had everything working great. It would tune hd/sd/digital all off of my motorola dct-6200 without a problem. I could record and play back hd without a hitch. Than I decided to trim the fat from the pc and get rid of a couple of programs. I got rid of purvideo because i had problems playing hd content in wmp (or wmpc which I normaly use) and I got rid of powerdvd6 because I started useing theatertek and I got rid of cyberlink powercinema because its a garbage program. I also updated to the latest nvidia video and chipset drivers somewhere in there (onboard 6150 on asus board).
Now when I try to watch live tv with sage it works about half the time. Usualy it will start up and watch what ever channel was it was on last but when I try to change to a different channel I get "Playbackexception: Error (-4x0x80040111)" after it sits there for a minute at a black screen thinking. It dosent happen every time but more often than not. It isnt consistant with any channel or format (hd/sd/digital). I tried reinstalling everything I had uninstalled to see if that was it. Now when I try to change the mpeg decoder in sage it dosent show the cyberlink codec like it used to, but it does still show "default/sagetv mpeg/nvidia". I am useing the nvidia purevideo again because I fixed my problem by switching to the latest video driver beta with purevideo hd in it 92.91. The strange thing is that If I set it up to record a bunch of stuff on different channels and set it to standby (the little moon icon) it records everything without a problem. I can even playback whatever it records in sage or wmpc. I tried reinstalling sage but that didnt help. Ive tried uninstalling/reinstalling powerdvd and nvidia purevideo a couple of times. I tried redoing my sgraph setup stuff. I havent tried rolling back my videocard drivers because my video works great in every other program. I am fairly sure its a mpeg codec problem but I just cant figure it out. Any help would be much apericated oh sageTV gods! -sean |

Ok it did it on a recording tonight too... I think it might have something to do with the way it changes channels through SGraphRecorder... specificly the amount of time it waits between changing channels and firing up the graph thing. Does this make sence? I found two different parts in the sgraphrecorder config file that you can adjust this. Under graph and exetuner. When I first set this up the instructions said you can adjust the one under exetuner but didnt say anything about the one under graph... I guess I will try bumping them both up a bit but its recording studio60 right now so I dont want to mess that up. Anyone got any feedback on these settings? I trolled around the intorweb for a while trying to find more info on any of the values in the config file but I had a tough time finding anything.
[Graph] FileName=C:\Program Files\Timmmoore\MCE 2005 STB Controller\gethd.grf TuningDelay=0 UnloadGraphOnStop=1 UnloadGraphOnSwitch=0 [ExeTuner] UseExeTuner=1 ExeTunerPath=C:\Program Files\Timmmoore\MCE 2005 STB Controller\channelw.exe -v 2 TuningDelay=500 UnloadGraphOnStop=1 UnloadGraphOnSwitch=1 |

I tried setting TuningDelay to 2500 on both then to 2500 on one then the other then both to 0 on both. It seams to work better on 0. Sometimes it dosent give me the 80040111 but waits about 30-45 seconds than plays and gives me a somewhat garbled playback with lots of green blocks and messed up audio. Sometimes it just throws the 80040111.
I thought maybe it was 5c so the next time it threw the error I hit power select on the remote to see the info and it said 5c 0 so I dont think its 5c. I thought it was because I was useing a dvi-hdmi cable so the box turned on hdcp and maybe that was causing me problems (im really reaching here) so I switched to component cables and unpluged the dvi, this got rid of the hdcp in the setup menu but I still have the problem. So im running out of ideas and I need to go to sleep. |

my settings
delay 6000 in sgr.ini
about 9000 in sage.properties 99% of the time it works without a hitch I always have to tune the channel once, stop and start it again or I get the last channel or a lockup (2 mins) Keep the delays longer to allow the .ts stream to change without errors ! I use a HD4200 w/Cablevision |

I tried setting the delay to 6000 in the sgraphrecorder and 9000 in sage.properties.
I wasnt exactly sure where to put it in sage so I tried a couple of places. I changed it here. videoframe/network_encoding_to_playback_delay=1500 I figured it would be the right place because sgraphrecorder works its magic through the network encoding in sage (not sure if I'm right about that one, just a guess). It definatly delayed the playback but still gave me the same problem. One channel it just gave me about 1 frame per 3 seconds. When I turned off sage and sgraph and tried a cap with capdvhs it worked fine. What really bugs me was that it was working fine before... I guess if it aint broke dont fix it. |

allright so I think ive got this fixed... mostly
I installed the sage 6 beta and it seams to work great now. The only thing is when I change channels it will say "no signal" when I first try, but if I hit stop and try again then it works fine. I havent figured that out yet but Im sure I wll sooner or later. I'll post back if I ever figure it out but I am very happy I got it mostly working now. |
