SageTV performance problems

I have a P3 866 with 512 PC133 RAM, 2 80GB 7200RPM hdds PVR250 and a NvidiaGeForce video card, my os is XP
Using SageTV the video is choppy when recording and the audio has imperfections such a blips or beeps. This didnt happen when I was using the WinTV software. Is this a known issue, I checked the mem and cpu usage and they were not maxed so im not sure why the slowdown is occuring.
Any suggestions? Should I upgrade my computer or is it something else?
Thanks
Arthur

That is a known issue with certain versions of the Haupauge drivers. If you have only one card, I would make sure you are running the latest version of the drivers from their website. Make sure you HD's are formatted using 64k blocks too. Your PC should be able to handle it fine as is.

I've had a similar problem with with video and audio eccentricities, especially when recording movies or a series of shows. eg. a half hour show would be fine, but an hour long show would start to get funky near the end. I replaced the factory heatsink on the 250 with active cooling and everything has been peachy since. I've had crashes using some of the newer 250 drivers, so I'm still using drivers installed from the cd.
