I think that's the decoder it is using. I am able to play x264 created by this. I'm using version 7 of PDVD and I don't believe that it will work with any other versions.

Would you mind posting a graphedit graph of the filters you use when you have a chance?

Now that's going to be a problem. Graphedit says it can't find a video decoder fot the file. Is it possible to use the codecs from PDVD 7 outside of it? I also can't play the files inside of PDVD 7, but they play fine in sage running sageplayer. This may be part of my problem whenever I alter the audio encoding.

Now I am confused-can sageplayer be configured to use external codecs? I thought it was self-contained(as opposed to the dshow player option). Can you point me to a thread on configuring it? I ask because I have all sorts of terrible audio sync problems when playing transcoded files, so I'm trying to find a workaround.

What I was trying to say is that I was wrong about using the PDVD7 codecs. In fact I am just using sageplayer much to my suprise and disappointment.

If the videos play properly in other media players and not Sage, be sure and fill out a bug report.

They don't play in anything other than Sage. Somehow nothing else seems to know they're Xvid, Divx, or h.264.

I do all of my testing on VLC (www.videolan.org/vlc/) and i've found it to be very reliable.

I'll try that, but if PowerDVD 7 can't recognize the video then how will the right filter be used?

P.S. I even tried it in graphedit and it couldn't recognize it.

VLC is like SageTVPlayer(mplayer) in that it doesn't use dshow, so it should be able to handle the videos.

If I understand your problem correctly you're having audio sync issues. So if you try VLC and the video plays fine then there's a problem with SageTVPlayer that needs to be addressed, however, if the video still plays back with out of sync audio then chances are its being encoded poorly and the problem is with this plug-in.

Actually, my problem is that I can't get the video to work at all in anything other than sageplayer.

I'm fairly sure ffdshow will let you play x264 content via graphedit.

I believe it will. Once you install it Sage will be able to make a graph to playback most file types and thus play through the built in dshow player instead of through SageTVPlayer(mplayer), which sounds like what you want.

But I'd also recommend starting a topic in the SageTV General Discussion thread as i'm sure someone there will be much more knowledable about this than me.

That enabled me to "see" the xvid and divx files. Thank you so much. It also fixed my audio problems with the output from all the files I compressed with your plugin.

Everything works now. I'm still eagerly awaiting your latest release to see if I can get more efficient with the compression on the processor.
