Channel avoidance in Favorites?

I'm sorry if this is a common question. I looked over several pages of threads and don't seem to find this brought up.

I'm setting up Favorites and I discovered a problem in the recording list. I have two sources set up. One is for satellite and the other is for antenna (used only for recording local news).

I discovered that Sage is scheduling recordings on the antenna source rather than the satellite. The Favorites options allows for All channels or selected channels but not for avoidance of channels.

Is there a way to tell sage I don't ever want the Favorites to access Antenna sourced channels? If I eliminate the antenna channels from the guide then I can't time schedule for the antenna source.

I'm a little stumped as to how to get around this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you not get those channels via the antenna, or do you just want them to record from a better source?

If some channels don't come in very well on the antenna, then you could simply disable those channels in Channel Setup. Oh, now I see you commented on that, about timed recordings... If you have to use timed recordings, does that mean the PEG data isn't correct for the antenna channel? You could set up that source to not use program guide data & just have blank channels in the guide - you would still be able to create timed recordings this way, but the scheduler won't touch those channels.

If the channel name both sources is the same, then you can't tell the favorite to use a single source. If the channel names (network name) are different, just set the favorite to use the channel on the sat.

There is a merit setting in the properties file which can be used to tell the scheduler to prefer a certain tuner over another, but sometimes the scheduler can override that setting.

It's definitely a better source using the satellite receiver. I'm just using a small antenna to pull the local news in. I'm about 30 miles away from that city so that channel isn't anything I'd ever want to be used for regular recordings.

I disabled the channels to avoid having the Favorites pick them for recording but then that prevented me from making any recordings off them. I thought possibly I could force a time based recording but, since it isn't in the channel list, that prevents all recording.

And that would be the magic bullet. As soon as I read that first sentence I realized that preventing the tuner from getting the guide data would resolve everything. I can then set a blind timed recording.

Thank you. That solved my conundrum.
