ReplayTV PC Edition released - Be careful

ReplayTV just sent me an email announcing the release of ReplayTV PC Edition. Please be careful if you install this on a SageTV machine....

I installed it and unfortunatly found out AFTER the install that it does not support multiple tuner cards. This is an absolute deal breaker for me, so it is not useful on my system. I ended up immediately unsinstalling it.

Also, it must have altered something in Hauppauge's IR setups, because SageTV no longer responded to remote control. Even after uninstalling it and rebooting, SageTV wouldn't recognize the remote.

So, I wiped the system and restored from a nightly backup using Acronis True Image, and I'm happily back to using SageTV.

Kind of a bummer considering my long-time affinity to ReplayTV. It's unfortunate, because it is yet another ReplayTV product that just falls way too short of the competition.

No support for multiple tuners and no HDTV support...........unbelievable

But there is talk of both being added at a later date

I read the downloadable user manual for ReplayTV PC Edition. Looks very similar to Sage in terms of features, if you omit dual tuners (!) and if you are interested in user programmability. I didn't see in the manual what flexibility you have in defining multiple video storage drives.

No remote client. No placeShifter.

$100 + $20yr.

The UI may be slicker; hard to tell from the PDF file views.

The download site for their user manuals and drivers show the download count. Maybe a faux paus, since the counts are embarassingly small. No counter on the download free trial itself.

Somehow I got the same e-mail...I have no idea how I get on half of the lists I do. I told Outlook they were junk mail.
