Strange memory issues

I was attempting to watch a show last night (Xvid) and after about 25 minutes, Sage became very unresponsive. My HDD light was on solid and it took an agonizing ~10 minutes before I could navigate the menus to quit (WAF is less at than 0 with Sage right now). I did a C-A-D and saw that memory usage was at 2.5GB (yes, GB). What's strange is none of the running applications were using that much memory (the most was the SageTVservice at 128megs). This has been happing about 5-10 times per week since upgrading to v6. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, has anyone found a solution?

I've seen it a number of times, and about six times in a row within a couple of hours last weekend. I took a few measures then: upped to 6.0.14 with the native_image_thingy property set, upped Java to 1.5.9, turned data scanning off on my digital tuners. No repeat yet, but it's early days...
