Good router or switch for use with HDHomeRun?
Previously I was using a D-Link switch and a cheap Belkin router. The only traffic passing through the Belkin was from the switch to the cable modem and all was well. My switch died and I'm currently running all traffic through the router. Now under heavy load I sometimes lose connection to my Sage server. Since I'm planning on picking up a HDHomeRun I obviously need to do some work on my network.
I have 4 computers on the network and with the HDHomeRun I would need at least 5 connections. My first thought was to just replace the router, but after looking I'm not sure I can find one at a reasonable price that would do the job. My other option was to just purchase a new switch and run everything like I did before. A new switch also appears to be the cheaper solution. I was hoping someone could give me recommendations on either a suitable router or switch that is reasonably priced. |

I'd just pick up a switch from a reputable vendor. Such as Linksys, Netgear, or D-Link.
Get an 8 port, so you have room to exapnd. |

My current setup is 4 port linksys router with 2 switches branching off it.
One switch is a Netgear 8 port gigabit (gs108) Other is a D-link 5 port gigabit (DGS-1005D) The HDHomerun is on the D-link. All runs smoothly. |
