Best Remote USB for Sage

I have been using the PVR-250, but I recently changed to the Nvidia DualTV for better picture quality. Unfortunately when I did this I lost my remote capabilities, and I was curious what people used for their remotes with SageTV? I am looking for something that will use USB, and preferably is about as simple to setup as the PVR-250 remote. I know some people use girder, but I am trying to simplify this to make the HTPC easier to use.

I havent used it for a while, but the streamzap remote, available on the sage site, is very simple and support is built into sage, so no girder.

I'll be using it at the weekend so can report back properly then.

The USB-UIRT can be used directly by SageTV and you can teach the remote commands for just about any IR based remote. Plus, if needed, it can work as an IR blaster for a converter box.

I've been thinking about gatting a harmony remote to use with the Uirt. Can I program all the buttons to work with Sage without Girder?

Yep. Program every button with *any* code, and the UIRT/Sage combo works a peach. I had one before I switched to the MCE Receiver & Keyboard (with an 880).

The Harmony 880 remote is one of the best around..........If you don't have large or fat fingers

LOL! I agree...the 720 at Costco looks to do the same thing as the 880...BUT IS HUGE! As someone who watches TV with the remote always in hand...the 880 "Peanut" is awesome.

I think I might replace my Hauppauge remotes with a couple of these then.
My server has the USB-UIRT so I can just program the 880 for that easily enough, But one of my clients have the MCE reciever but I do not have the remote that came with it. Can I program the 880 to work in Sage through the MCE reciever?

Yep. Just input a "Media Center PC" device on Harmony's site. All MCE IR is the same. The only snag I can see without owning the MCE Keyboard is that you'll be stuck with what Harmony gives you, ie... if you wanted to add a command, you'd have to re-map one you already had instead of using the keyboard to teach with. Honestly though, Sage's Pop-Up menus are all I use 99% of the time...I haven't used the 880's "Soft Keys" in a while.

I have been using the remote wonder II and it is extremely easy to setup. there is a plugin that must be installed but that is it.

I actually have the MCE keyboard on the client PC. Too bad the mouse is the worst peice of technology I """EVER""" used or I'd just use the keyboard without a remote...
