FYI this was just a symtom of a bigger problem that I thought I had fixed but it didn't work. Specifically the bug where the EDL file wasn't always getting loaded when you opened a video. I think I have this figured out now but it will be tomorrow or the next day for the fix probably.

New version 0.2.2 uploaded. With minor update and a couple of bugs that should actually be fixed now.

Here is the change list:
  • Fix bug when opening a file and the cut file isn't read - Think I have this fixed this time. This also fixes the dirty flag so that you are not constantly nagged when opening new files.
  • Enhanced fix for time/cut bar so that it is able to display an odd number of cut points instead of dropping the last one. It now creates an artificial cut point at the end of the video if there is an odd number of cut points so that from the last cut point to the end will be removed - which was already done when you saved the cut points to a file anyway. Now the display works the same way.
  • Enhanced the code so that the pause function when skipping only works on the numeric keys. Left/right/custom4/custom5 all just jump to the cut point but continue playing.

This is something I though would be great in Sage since I started using it.

But.... I cannot get VideoReDo to process anything. This is not your fault, because I cannot even load a video from sage in videoredo, I get an error message about unable to load video.

I know what is causing the problem though. When I close sage completely, and load the vprj project file into videoredo everything is fine.

But when sage is open, it cannot process the file. I have tried all the display options and audio options in videoredo with no success.

It has to be a VMR issue. I also tried to load the project file in the batch manager in quiet mode and I got the same error message in videoredo.

Any ideas? It would be great if I could get this to work!

On a side note... I guess I will have to buy videoredo

$50 is a lot to spend for this use, I am correct is saying that vidoeredo is required to make this all work? You have the option for an txt or edl file, is there anything out there free to do this?

I guess it confused me at first because I tried to process the file through the menu choice you put about sage video conversion. I tried to process the video edits this way.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you again on this. Was able to finally try this on a machine that I use with VMR9 and yes I can confirm there is a problem there. I will be able to fix this however. But I will have to turn off VMR9 when you start the VideoReDo process and then turn it back on again when it is done. I can't prevent you from going to setup and turning it on again - or at least I don't want to anyway - but that will probably bring down VideoReDo when you try this. So I will just put a warning up when starting VideoReDo and trust that you can wait until it is finished. I will try this for the next maintenance release for version 0.2. Specifically for 0.2.3 - should have it ready this weekend.

Great! Thanks!

Now I only wish that Sage would do the same when it is sleeping in the taskbar, that way I could use Theatertek while Sage is still open.

But that is another issue all together.

Is there a way to add more detail int he fileopen list? Ihave 60 simpsons episodes, and it is impossible to select the one I need. It would be nice to display the date, or filename.

Thanks for this very nice plugin!!!

Not really sure what you are asking here. The remote buttons available are listed in the first post and any additions are listed in the updates in the second. I copied all of the sage commands defined in the media player so all of those should work as well - just removed the code from them for DVD's since those have been filtered out. The only part of VideoReDo used by this plugin is that it is called to Save the output. It does not actually display any part of the VideoReDo program so no the VideoReDoHotKeys will not work.

Well I've tried and I just cannot get consistant results. Sometimes the code works and disables FSE/VRM9 and VideoReDo runs fine. Other times even though Sage shows it has been disabled VideoReDo logs say "Error initializing video: Can't create DirectDraw frame surface: DDERR_NOEXCLUSIVEMODE, Overlay Flag: 0, Accel Flag: 1". This makes me think that Sage really hasn't released FSE/VMR9. Until I can get this to work I'm not going to release it. If you want to try what I've got just PM me with a email address and I will email it to you. But I'm just going to put a warning about VMR9 mode in the first post and move on to my next version for now. Maybe I'll think of something before the next version is out but I doubt it. Sorry.

Looks like a nice cool setup. Where do I download it from?

I click on the download from here, which takes me to another place which brings me back here.

Ah, I found the tiny little "download here" after reading galzions of pages.

The hotkeys that I'm aware of are;

<ctrl>s = pause
<ctrl>d = play
<ctrl>a = back a bit
<ctrl>f = forward a bit
<ctrl>F7 = back a lot
<ctrl>F8 = forward a lot
<ctrl>left = vol down
<ctrl>right = vol up
<ctrl>i = toggle display of clickable overlay thingy when in fullscreen mode
<ctrl>g = stop (and save)
<ctrl>y = add remove cutpoint

left arrow = previous cutpoint (and continue playing) * only in fullscreen mode
right arrow = next cutpoint (and continue playing) * only in fullscreen mode

7= go to previous cutpoint and pause
8= toggle cutpoint (same as <ctrl>y)
9= go to previous cutpoint and pause

4 = go to start of file
5 = clear all cutpoints
6 = go to end of file

1 = toggle fullscreen
2 = Video redo screen
3 = Compression screen

Those are all that I can recall atm. Using your remote in front of the TV is the best way to use this imho.

Mick.

edit: oh. I see Bob already answered this.

Hey Bob,

I just finished checking out 0.2.2 and it's looking great.

The new timeline behavior for balancing the cut marks works nicely. The not pausing on left and right arrows is also working and is a big help when checking pre existing cut points.

The dirty flag doesn't seem to be working for me. I'll have more of a play to see if there are situations where it does and doesn't ask me to save again.

Thanks again for your continued work.

Mick.

Yeh. Give me the steps for working as well as not working. I don't find a case where it doesn't work so I'm interested in where it doesn't work for you.

Here is where I set the dirty flag to true:
Seting or clearing a cut point.
Clearing all cut points.

Here is where I set the dirty flag to false and where I could have problems:
Loading a new file after saving previous cut points if necessary.
Saving the current Cut Points.
Loading the cut points from the file again.

Note if you set a cut point and then later delete the same cut point I do NOT reset the dirty flag because you still have changed something even if you set it back again.

Select 0 then save edl and vrd
go back to windowed mode
select open file option (file still playing btw)
select lost worlds 2
Save dialog appears
select save the cuts
message: there are NO cut files available to load <-- quite possible
Fullscreen/stealth
Create markers
select stop
save with edl and vrd

open teh daily show
no prompting for save
file has cutlist;

s- 9:10.880
e- 11:53.120
s- 33:46.840
e- 39:58.760

go fullscreen/stealth
clear cutpoints
create new cutpoints
save with 0 option edl & vrd
select vrd options via 2 option

Good news. I can reproduce this thanks to the VERY detailed instructions above. Should be able to fix this this weekend I think.

Thanks for looking into that. I have been working with Sage about fixing the release of FSE when sleeping, I'll keep you all updated.

If there is no fixes there, I'll be PM'ing you about that version.

Version 0.2.3 has been uploaded. It is a maintence release to 0.2.

Change log:
  • Fixed bug in Dirty flag attempt #3. Missed a section of code.
  • Fixed bug where Cut- wouldn't skip to first cut point.
