Which distribution and kernel?

Hi All,

As you might have seen in my thread here in the Linux section, do I have serious problems with getting Sage to work with my Fedora Core 6, cause it is using a too new kernel (2.6.18) and Fedora Core 4 & 5 are using a too old kernel which wants to be updated to 2.6.18 every second

So my question to you: Which distributions/kernels are you using?
From my side it is important to have a real Linux installation with Gnome or KDE running.
Besides my XMLTV epg grabber and Nielms webserver do I also need a few non Sage applications to run on my server (Amule, Bittorrent etc.)
So the Gentoo/Sage distribution doesnt work for me.

I'm using ubuntu. Works great. Took me a while to gather all of the dependancies, but I got it working.

Now that Sage is officially suggesting Gentoo.2006.1, I may give that one final try to see if I can get it to work so that I have a box configured the way SageTV was meant to be used.
