Splitting, Removing commercials etc.

I simply need to know what program I need to cut a portion of a recorded file out for saving. Without audio sync issues etc.

VideoReDo is probably the preferred option.

Or mencoder if you want a free program and use regular SD mpeg (no AC3)

Wouldn't that re-encode though? Video ReDo does frame-accurate cuts without re-encoding (read very fast, perfect quality).

Sounds good - yes no quality loss would be the idea.

Isn't Video Redo restricted to I frames only?

Nope. It will re-encode the few frames around where it cuts though (because it has to, to not be limited to I frames).

Ok I am trying Videoredo -

My cut and save comes back with no video, only audio ? Seems pretty self explanitory - what is wrong or what did I miss?

I've been using videoredo for a year and never had that problem...I would check the settings and make sure that there is not a setting that says "video only"....also, not to be insulting...but I assume the file to be edited had audio
