Upgrade ghosts

I was running sage 2.28 for a while with Cayars and a bunch of other tools.
I upgraded to sage 5 with just the miniguide and nielm's menu imports.

I am seeing some random weirdness with menus. Sometimes I go into setup or recordings and the page is empty or improperly drawn, but I can go back. It can be any page really.

I suspect some of my old 2.28 junk in my properties file is causing problems. I did erase the whole "net" folder to eliminate java issues but I had a lot of extras going in 2.28.

I changed my STV back to plain old SageTV3.xml but even with those menus I have random weirdness.

Is it safe to delete any "cayars" lines from the properties file now that I am off of it?

I'd rather not clear out the whole file and have to reconfigure sources and guides and channels and all that fun stuff but I am thinking it might be worth it.

sometimes it can be best to just start clean.

If you backup your wiz.bin file, you can completely uninstall 2.2.8 and then install V5 or V6. You can copy your old wiz.bin into the sagetv folder, replacing the new wiz.bin. Then, when you start Sage, it will run the setup wizard and set you up with a new sage.properties file without any extra junk in it. keep a copy of your old .properties files so you can look in them to see if there were any tweaks that need to be redone.

Does this happen right away when you run SageTV?

When you get a messed up menu & back out of it, what happens when you try to go to that menu again?

You could make a backup copy of your properties file & wiz.bin, then delete the current ones to start with a fresh setup just to see what happens that way. Use the default STV w/o any customizations. After trying it out long enough to see what happens (couple hours?), you could replace your previous files to return to your old settings & data.

Oh -- and there should be no usage of any cayars properties in the default STV.
