V6 Record in DivX?
Hi. I am a newbie when it comes to the DivX format, so forgive me if I ask dumb questions on this. I currently have SageTV V5 and looking at V6 features is says "Record in High Quality MPEG-2, MPEG-4* or DivX*." Where the * says "*Requires Plextor ConvertX 402U, TV402U or ProVideo 358T to record in MPEG-4 or DivX." I have 2 WinTV PVR-150 and I use MediaMVP to watch the shows on TV. What is the easiest way to record in DivX format with the WinTV PVR-150? |

As the * says "Requires Plextor ConvertX 402U, TV402U or ProVideo 358T to record in MPEG-4 or DivX" only those cards can record directly to divx. The PVR-150 would have to record to mpeg1 or mpeg2. Once recorded though, Sage can convert the recording to divx or mpeg4, either manually in the stock STV, or automatically in SageMC.
edit: be aware that the the MVP can only view mpeg2 files, so if you convert your recordings to divx/mpeg4, your Sage Server will need enough CPU horsepower to transcode the divx/mpeg4 back to mpeg2 on-the-fly so that the MVP can receive streamed mpeg2 in order to view it.
