Recording Quality and Transcoder
I have a Terratec 2400i DVB-T card connected to my system, and 'Recording Quality' is set to 'max'. However, when I start up the computer a 'sagetv transcoder' task starts up and eats up 100% CPU. Somehow I'm thinking that those two are related. Just to be clear, I absolutely want no transcoding, ever. I just want to save the original transport stream when recording. Is this even possible?

When using a digital tuner, the recording quality setting is irrelevant since the stream is saved to the file as it is received.
If you are playing the video on a Placeshifter or Extender client, the video will be transcoded. The transcoder is used for a couple other jobs, but playback on non-remote client is not transcoded. I suggest making sure you are using the latest version. If the transcoder cpu issue remains, then enable debug logging and contact SageTV support. - Andy
