IR Blaster stopped working-help!

Yesterday, I came home to find that all of my scheduled recordings had failed to change the channel from what I was last watching the night before. I tried watching live TV and the channels on my STB won't change using the IR blaster bundled with the PVR-150, which is less than a month old.

I did a reboot and re-ran the IR blaster config, and things started working again. Then I turned off the machine and swapped out my rental cable box (Motorola DCT-2224) for one I found at a thrift store to see if it was functional (sort of, but that's another thread). Switched cable boxes back and when I restarted my machine the IR blaster again isn't changing the channel on my rental STB.

Did another reboot, without success. IR blaster config no longer works. I'd recently switched to Andy's "control Sage w/o focus" Irremote.ini file. I figured that might be the problem, so I went back to the default Irremote.ini file provided by Hauppauge, rebooted, and reran the ir config. Still doesn't work.

I should note that I can see the red light blinking on the IR blaster when I push buttons, but nothing is happening on the STB.

I've ordered a serial cable because I hate this IR blaster nonsense, but it's not clear that Comcast will agree to let me use the serial port on either my rental or my thrift store STB. Meanwhile, Sage is entirely useless without a way to change channels on my STB.

Any suggestions?

Jason

If the Hauppauge IR blaster utility doesn't work, then try contacting Hauppauge support.

Did you recently change anything on the system? Add another tuner, change SageTV to use service mode, etc. If you added another Hauppauge tuner, it could be trying to use a different tuner for IR. If using service mode, try w/o using the service.

Haven't made any other changes to the system than what I described. Will try Hauppauge tech support.

Sigh....This whole homemade PVR thing is just not what it's cracked up to be.
