Another port question about MVPs

sorry to bring up another port question and MVPs but I saw this in the manual and it didnt make much sense. According to the V6 manual here are the ports used by Sage and an MVP:

The following ports are used for the MVP as a Media Extender:
UDP:
16867 (for booting the MVP)
16869 (for booting the MVP)
16881
31100 (for discovering the SageTV server after boot)
TCP:
31099 (For SageTV usage after fully booted and SageTV is loaded.

So from reading this it appears that the video is streamed via TCP not UDP. The only reason I am asking this is because I am trying to setup QOS on my network to optimize Sage with the MVP. Because of this I need to know which ports and which protocol to move up on the priority list.

I have not tried a network monitoring tool yet, thats the next step. I was hoping somebody had the answer here. Thanks

So from using netstat it appears that the only network connection from the server to the MVP is via TCP.

TCP Server:31099 MVP:3842 ESTABLISHED
TCP Server:31099 MVP:3988 ESTABLISHED

It appears that Sage is streaming the video with a TCP connection to the MVP. If anybody out there knows something about networking please let me know. I dont know much, just enough to mess things up.

Doesn't your result match the documentation? I double checked that stuff before writing it in the first place... but while there is always a small chance the docs are still wrong, your tests seem to have confirmed what you read.

I just thought it was strange that it used TCP to stream video, I had to change my QOS settings because of that. Got a little better streaming because of that.

It is interesting once you read what you wrote how it sounds.
