Channel Changing Issues and Serial Com Port

TWO ISSUES - one major and one minor and I'm running the latest 6.017 RC2:

Major Issues: strange - I never had this problem in prior version before 6 but now it seems to be happening more often. I have a file server and I'm currently using the serial com ports to change the channels on the various STB's. I've noticed sometimes that it's like out of nowhere Sage stops tuning channels on one of the STB's. It seems to be random and so it is not always the same STB. Sometimes it happens when I'm recording one show and it is the first STB other times it might be when I'm recording two shows and it is the second, etc. Once I go into my Sage Recordings long after the show is over, I'll notice it recorded the wrong channel. Now, what happens is Sage NEVER can tune that box again via the serial port until I restart Sage Control. It's like it is no longer sending the signal to the com port. I'll even try and go into Setup Video Sources and change the channel in there and it won't do it. I have to restart Sage Control. I'm starting to get a lot of recordings on the wrong channel because of this and I'm not sure what to do. It's like it simply never changes the channel on the com port. The moment I stop Sage Control I can then run the DTV serial check and everything is fine and everything is also fine if I start Sage Control again. Please help on this one.

Minor Issue: I also notice when I go into Setup Video Sources and do my first click on View, Sage ignores it and I have to click it again for it to respond and change the channel.

Thanks,
Mike

The V6 beta ended a month ago with the release of 6.0.18. The latest version is 6.0.19.

I am having the same problem. I went to sage 6.0.19 thinking it would fix this problem but it hasn't. I am not going to remove the serial cable to see if that fixes it.

The problem for me is I can tune in a channel going to the program guide through the cable box but when I program a channel to record it wont change the channel. This just started to happen since going to 6.x.

The beta ended a while ago. The first thing support will tell you is to use the release version.

The beta forum was left open for posting in case there were follow-ups on existing topics. New issues should be in the other forum sections, using the release version of SageTV.

I too am having the exact same problem since the start of the 6.x beta up to and including the production release. I was wondering if a mod can move this thread to the non-beta forum so we can continue discussion on this problem.

It happened again and of course on a movie that has no Future Airings at this time so I won't get to watch the first half. I had to cancel the recording, record a different channel (using that tuner) then record the channel I want (using another tuner where the com port assigned to that tuner will tune the channel). In other words, it always seems to happen with one com port where sage won't change the channel. Now, one thing I have noticed is that it ALWAYS seems to happen with one of the two com ports changing channels on my NVidia Dual TV Tuner card. But, that could just be because I have encoder merit set to use the tuners on that card first. I'm not sure what is causing this but it seems to happen every few days. I'm not yet sure if I need to restart the entire computer or just restart SageTVService (and won't know until about 90 minutes because we're recording something right now so I can't check). This is annoying.

(Edited: it seems that all I have to do is stop and start SageTVService and everything works fine again until it does it again a few days later. I don't have to restart the computer. I'm not sure if maybe a Sage Addon is causing the problem or Sage V6 or maybe the internal fax modem receiving faxes). Someone, please help.

Thanks,
Mike

Looks like it happened again today. No rhyme or reason but I sure wish I could figure out some way to fix this problem.

Maybe I did not read carefully enough- but what STBs are these?

Motorola DCTs or DirectTV boxes?

I have had trouble with DirectTV boxes (D11-100) and I used an older DirectTV serial control dll to fix the problem. Just put the older working dll in place of the new one....... Maybe something similar will work for you.

Good luck!
