Sage on Windows Home Server

Although the latest Sage announcement only mentions AMD!Home Media Server (such as HP MediaSmart) is it safe to assume this announcment really means support for any Windows Home Server (WHS)?

No. It's not safe to assume that.

WHS is actually Server 2K3 with a 10user cal. The one box I saw demoed at CES from HP was stated to have an AMD Sempron for a proc. Doesn't take much for file serve, but will liekly not work for SageTV server.

Any links for info on this WHS? I've never heard of it until a vague mention in the HD extender thread.

Agreed, but what about using it as a sort of NAS device?

It would be sweet to have this thing keep up to date images of my sage server and clients along with the other pc's on the network as well as store all my sage recordings.

Oh, I'll take that bet! Since under the covers WHS has Windows Server 2003 R2 at the core, I'd be more willing to bet that even the current Sage 6.0 would work just fine as the server. There's more processor power than I have on my current system. I'm betting that all of us who like to build our own units will be able to put Sage on it.

Well, there are no card slots in the unit. You should be able to attach devices such as the HD Homerun and, I would imagine, USB devices such as the Hauppauge WinTV-USB2 should work.
