Encode to an MPEG2 352x240....?
i'm trying to set sagetv to encode at 352x240 as an MPEG-2. i don't care about quality as i don't have much HDD space right now. i can try to make a new encoding quality to VCD with 48Khz audio (ready to author to DVD), but then i can't watch it while i'm recording as MPEG-1 doesn't support pausing or something like that.
so i just want the VCD resolution, but in MPEG-2 so i can watch and pause and do whatever, while its recording. and it is a valid resolution in the DVD Spec. http://www.videohelp.com/dvd.php#tech i used this recording quality, mmc/python2_encoding/M2-352x240-192k=videobitrate\=1520000|outputstreamtype\=10|width\=352|height\=240|audiobitrate\=192|audiosampling\=48000 but then the output video is 352x480, which is also in the DVD spec, but its not 352x240 as i wanted. so does sagetv support this format of MPEG-2, 352x240? thanks |

I would just use 352x480 and worry about the bitrate and see if that looks good enough. I had setup a 352x240 mpeg-2 setting when using BTV a LONG time ago and when comparing that with the same bitrate at 352x480 on a 42" HDTV no one in my family could see the difference.
