Sage cannot resume when brining it out of standby after a long period of time
I've noticed that sometimes, not always, when I bring Sage out of standby after it has been there for awhile, like maybe a few hours, playback and responsiveness do not resume correctly. The video in the background remains black, and the currently recording show does not load (in the bottom, using nielm's custom menus). It also doesn't respond to inputs and I have to End Task it and reopen it.
Does anyone else experience this? Using version 6. My system is not in standby, only Sage is. As soon as it happens again I'll post the log. Last edited by archcommus; 01-21-2007 at 10:58 PM. |

Anybody? Everything else works just fine, would just like to smooth this out so I never have to close/reopen Sage.

This happens a lot to me. Three different computers, three different installs of SageClient. If Sage is in standby for a length of time (such as overnight) I get nothing but a black screen, unresponsive screen. No menus, no video, no anything. I have to End Task and restart the computer everytime.

Sometimes I can actually go for many days in a row without it happening once. So it is sporadic. If you enable debugging does your log show anything in particular when it happens? |

I've had several problems using standby from FSE being backwards or confused, to Sage being minimized or in the tray (when it shouldn't be) to Sage just shutting down when coming out of standby. There are other problems reported with Sage and Standby such as this post.

So I suppose this is an inherent problem I cannot control.

Any other input? This is really frustrating, almost completely eliminates the point of using standby.

I've been told by support this is a known issue that will be fixed in version 6.1. I'm installing the 6.1.3 RC now, we will see.

I don't know if this is related but I turned off FSE and I haven't had a freeze in weeks coming out of standby. Wonder if it is related to FSE.

But, good news, it seems to be fixed in 6.1.3 RC. Initially it looks the same as before but then it "reloads" itself and is good to go. It's great, give it a shot. |
