Remote Control Install

First I want to say that Sage is awesome. Super stable and reliable. I made the fatal error of trying the all in blunder product and was so unhappy that I had almost given up on PC-PVR's. Now no crashes!

I bought the PVR-250 package and didn't install the software in the correct sequence. I didn't have the remote driver from the CD installed when I loaded Sage. Now I can't get the remote to do anything. I tried installing Sage again (with the repair option) to no avail. Do I have to do a complete uninstall? If so will I lose my settings? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to install the IR remote software from Hauppauge before you install SageTV. Just uninstall SageTV through Add/Remove programs and your settings will stay there in the properties and wiz files. Then install the IR software from Hauppauge and then install SageTV again. Make sure you check the box upon installation to preconfigure the Hauppauge remote. Then it should work.

OK I screwed up and looking to bail myself out. I have not installed the remote and have 80some shows recorded. If I uninstall sage then install the remote and re-install sage will I hold all my recordings and will Sage recoginize them? If not is there a better way to post install the remote?

You're looking at posts that are a bit out of date. Try reading the newer ones first.
