Not sure how to describe problem
I have recently downloaded the v6 trial, and have had nothing but issues.
The one that concerns me most is the fast forwarding of a recording show. If I hit FF, the screen locks up and the sound fast forwards to the next part of the show. THe screen stays locked until I hit FF again, sometimes it jumps to the correct stop like it should when I FF the first time, other times it shows the skipped parts in 2x the normal playing speed. I had V2 and had no issues, now I decided to see how it's changed and I have been blessed with issue after issue. I also ahve been trying to get the dvd to play but i get the following error (-5,0x8007007e). I have searched for this error and ahve not found it any where. Advise would be greatly appreciated. I am growing tired off spending several hours of my weekend patching this thing together. I got v2 working and left it alone. I should have stayed there. Thanks for any advice Rusty |

Gerry,
I am not truly up to speed on all this, but this is what I have tried. I was able to play DVD's with v2. I had v6 write over v2 because I thought it would be a "simple" upgrade. Hey, it worked before, but i guess I was wrong. I have the following loaded as codecs according to microsoft's windows XP video decoder checkup utiltiy. GPL Mpeg-1/2 decoder - gplmpgdec2.ax nvidia video decoder - nvviddec.ax cyberlink video/sp decoder - clvsd.ax sagetv mpeg video decoder - stvmcdsmpeg.ax nero video decoder - mevideo.ax dstansinplacefilter - dstransinplacefilter.ax nero video decoder HD - nevideohd.ax ulead mpeg video decoder - uldsmpeg.ax acrsoft dvd video - videodecoder.ax ulead dvd video decoder 2 - uldvdvideo.ax intervideo noncss video decoder - ivivideo_hauppauge.ax cyberlink sac video decoder - clvsd.ax I have tried various configs on the dvd detail set up, but probably have not tried all configs possible as only a few show up as options, which are: under video/audio tab video renderer - overlay mpeg2 video decoder filter - default/cyberlink video SP (PDVD7)/intervideo nonCSS for hauppauge/NVIDIA video / NVIDIA post video/Sage Tv mpeg audio renderer - soundMAX digital, cyberlink audio (PDVD6), default directsound, default waveout, directsound:modem#1line (emulated), direct sound:soundMAX digital, modem #1 line playback current MPEG2 Audio decoder: AC3filter, cyberlink audio (PDVD7), intervideo nonCSS, mpeg audio, NVIDIA audio, sagetv mpeg audio under DVD tab dvd video renderer-overlay dvd video decoder filter - default/cyberlink video SP (PDVD7)/intervideo nonCSS for hauppauge/NVIDIA video / NVIDIA post video/Sage Tv mpeg dvd audio renderer- soundMAX digital, cyberlink audio (PDVD6), default directsound, default waveout, directsound:modem#1line (emulated), direct sound:soundMAX digital, modem #1 line playback dvd audio decoder filter- AC3filter, cyberlink audio (PDVD7), intervideo nonCSS, mpeg audio, NVIDIA audio, sagetv mpeg audio In the process of listing this, i did get it to play the menu of the dvd, but after clicking it to play the movie, I get a blank black screen......Tried again and I get an error and no menu. Thanks Rusty do they have an icon with a gun to his head??? |

I also have this LCD hooked up via PC connection on the back of the LCD. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it. I have seen several posts about how CSS is not allowing you to play DVD's on your computer. Or did I misunderstand that...
Rusty Screen resolution is maxed on my cpu to 1360x768. |

Your nVidia decoder and your Cyberlink decoder (PDVD 7) should work fine for playing your DVDs. Set your audio renderer for Soundmax. Set your audio decoder for Cyberlink audio. Set your renderer to VMR 9 or VMR 7 and restart your Sage and see if you can play a DVD.

Gerry,
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried with Nvidia as video decoder and then tried Cyberlink as video decoder on both audio/video and dvd tabs. I still get the (-5,0x8007007e) error, there was a problem rendering the audio portion of the content for playback. Power DVD plays the Dvd with not problems. Any other thoughts? Thansk Rusty |

Gerry,
Copied Sage directory to another location and removed Sage v6 and started over. Went thru configuration, got to source and was able to get tuner card to display a signal from directv. After that downloading the lineup took FOREVER, I am not sure it has downloaded anything. I had to shut it down and start over, this time was able to get past the channel lineup download screen, but could not get the playback test to work on any of the settings. Now nothing is working. Please help...... Thanks Rusty |

Do you have WIndows XP service pack 2 installed? Do you have DirectX 9 installed? Do you have the firewall disabled?

Go to Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Information. Choose the Tools menu and then DirectX Diagnostic tool. You should see near the bottom DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) if you have the latest Dec. build. As you click through each tab it should say "No problems found" at the bottom. Go to Control Panel-Security Center and scroll down to the firewall icon and disable it. Ignore the warnings for now. If this all checks out I'm at a loss to explain the issue. Maybe uninstall SageTV and java and reinstall Sage and let it install the version of java that comes with it. Gerry

Gerry,
Did get DXdiag error: problem getting network info, result code = 0x80004003 (error code) under the system tab. The rest said no problem. The rest check out okay. I am using Zone Alarm instead of WIndows firewall. Thanks Rusty Last edited by rtwhbw; 01-29-2007 at 09:44 PM. |

Gerry,
Once I got V2 working, i did NOTHING else to it, just let it run I have IE v7, latest WMP. I did get the setup to finish and can watch TV now. I may just have to use something else to watch DVDs. I tried all the codecs you recommended and can not come up with a combination that works. I am moving this set up to another room and may have to buy a dedicated machine for Sage, maybe a better video card. Thanks for all your help with getting through that. It was greatly appreciated. I may email tech support and see if they can help. I wanted to try v6 before I buy it, but looks like now I will have to buy it because I don't have a copy of V2. Rusty |
