concerns/questions before buying
If I upgrade (change my tv tuner card, media extender, etc.)/replace my computer can I transfer the SageTV license? Is there a way to stream the desktop to the extender (I'm particulary interested in playing Flight Simulator using my TV).
Thanks. Robert |

Yes, you can transfer the Sage license rather easily. As for streaming a destop app like flight sim, Sage can't help you with that. If you are using the extender from Sage there is no way it would be close to powerful enough to handle that type of software even if Sage could stream it.

Why would sage software (or my mediaMVP extender) require more power than they presently have? My computer would be generating the video to display on the monitor, and sage would only have to send screen captures (30 fps would be enough) to the extender.

I know of no way to stream the PC desktop to the MVP.
I run the PC's S-video out through the attic and into the TV's aux-in. This would do what you want, though since you are using an MVP, it may be that this cable routing is impractical. You could connect your PC S-video out and sound to a modulator for say, cable channel 76 and add that signal to your home's cable system. |

If you're wanting to play games on your TV, then use a PC instead of an extender, or use both (one for TV, one for games, then you can use PIP to watch TV whlie you're flying ).

Okay, thanks guys. Yeah, thought of the S-Video a little too late. Of course, it was killing me not to have the extender (a new toy).
