Question How can I restore my PVR-350 TV output?

The TV out from the PVR-350 with SageTV was working fine when it was the only tuner card in my system. I have now added 2 PVR-250 cards and can no longer get this to work from SageTV. It works from WinTV2000 just fine. How can I get this working again. I want to keep all of the EPG data for the currently recorded programs.

the way I had to get SageTV to recognize it again is to remove(uninstall, not phisically) all three cards from the system and rebooting. As windows detects the three cards, point it to the right drivers, in my case the ...21177 ones. Don't use MCE drivers, AFAIK, those will break 350 output. After Windows is happy, start SageTV, and you should be able to check the output option and get output again. Word of caution though. I was not able to keep SageTV stable for more than a day with the 350 output enabled and multiple cards in the same system. I am sure this will be fixed in the next release, but you might want to consider having the 350 alone in the system, and having the 250's in a client on the network.

My config:
PVR-350 and a OEM (-15) 250 like card (Freestyle, etc.)

The latest drivers on the Hauppage website do
work with my old OEM card. I had been running
SHS's CD-ROM distribution with a custom inf file he
sent me but now it seems Hauppage got something
right for me.

However, if you reboot after installing the drivers you
loose TV-output in Sage. This has always been true
no matter which drive you use. I'm not sure it's
Hauppage's fault, I think it has something to do with
Sage.

I've mentioned it previously in
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=2249

I just tried putting in a -16 retail PVR-250 and had
lockups when Sage started up. (This is using the most
current drivers from Hauppage's website). If I use
SHS's maginc inf file and his latest CD-ROM set I get
a lockup when the 350 driver is setup in XP.

I am using the shspvr "...21177 ones" drivers. I tried the suggestion from mikejaner without any success. I thought at one time I did have it working with 1 350 and 1 250 card, however I have tried so many things I can't be sure. Since SageTV shows the same name for all 3 tuners, I can only assume the SageTV detects them as 3 250 cards. I consider it a bug that SageTV does not provide more ID information about the tuners. The only way I can see to identify the tuners is to disconnect the input signal from all but 1 card and then see which tuner is displaying a good signal. It appears to me like SageTV always makes the 350 card the last input source.

I did not get a lockup but did get a reboot when attempting to install all 3 cards at the same time. The 250 driver installs went fine but the 350 install caused a reboot. When the system came back up and the system error was reported to microsoft, the response sent me to another site to update some type of loader.
I have not attempted a complete reinstall to test this fix yet. I just installed the drivers for the 350 card and completed what I was doing.

Using the SHS 21177 drivers my 350 and OEM Freestyle were
stable for a week.

I have moved on to the latest drivers
from Hauppage, 21288, things work but sometimes Sage
and the 350 get out of sync badly and crash. Like, sometimes
I will be watching something and then when I escape to the
EPG guide the video keeps playing on the 350's output.
Also, sometimes I can't jump ahead or backward in the
timeline on a fully recorded recording.

Now that I check my notes, you are correct. My system did not
lockup when the 350 driver was almost done installing itself
it did a reboot.

I did get some honest lockups after I tried to load Sage with
the 250 driver disabled.

You have been able to get the 350 driver installed somehow?
After you have tested everything out I would be very interested
in knowing your installation technique. Thanks!

I have never had a serious problem getting the 350 driver installed.

I use the CDROM Release 1.7.21177 file from the shspvr.com site, and follow most of the installation instructions. I skip the step about checking the registry because the site doesn't say what to do if you do find any entries. I did find some entries the one time that I checked but they seem to just be serial number stuff so I just left them alone.

I have all 3 cards installed at same time. The drivers for the 250 cards seem to always be installed first. You may get a reboot when you attemp to install the 350. If so just install the the 350 when the system comes back up. The Driver Version shown by the Device Manager is 1.17.270.21176 dated 6/25/2003.

If the your system is not stable you may want to insure your disk and controller drivers are up to date. I had been using my disks with my 350 for a couple of months with no sign of trouble. It was not untill I got multiple tuners and lost all my data on one of my disk that I found out my drivers were not up to date as I thought they were.

Right now I have all 3 cards working properly but not sure how stable the TV out from the 350 is. See my thread "Possible initialization problem with multi-tuners cards" for more info about this.
