ATI Remote Wonder, lirc and wmctrl
Finally got the ATI Remote Wonder working with lirc and SageTV. The diskless client is a VIA EN12000 running Ubuntu 6.10. The server is running CentOS 4.4. Not a bad combination.
The one thing I ran up against was setting up irexec and irxevent for SageTV on the client. I've attached my configuration files and scripts in case you can use them. The one tidbit I came up with uses wmctrl in some scripts to control tje three main programs: SageTV, vlc (DVD player) and Firefox. The some of the remote's function keys are setup to select these programs via irexec. The scripts use wmctrl to see if the application is running and brings it to the front if it is and starts it up if it is not. Not too sophisticated but it works.
The client has its own DVD player and vlc is the default player so stuffing in a DVD lets me watch it immediately. One of the irexec function keys will eject the DVD and switching between apps is now just a button press away. No more mousing!
