installed HD Homerun, sound comes and goes

I have recently celebrated the fact that I got the HD to work. Now it looks like sound has gone from all of my sage channels, changed the decoders = no luck, restarted teh cpu = no luck. I was out of the house this afternoon, and my wife said the sound would come and go.

Any thoughts?

PS- after all the money and time I have spent with this, I am getting real tired of this not working. Tivo and directv HD sound great right about now.

HDTV is nothing more (in a broad sense) than mpeg video with an AC3 soundtrack. If your setup can play DVD's (picture & sound), then it should play HDTV. If there are problems with one but not the other, I would lean toward problems at the broadcaster's end. (ABC seems to be the worst). Numerous times I've seen/heard:

1. No sound at all
2. 2 channel sound
3. SD when it was supposed to be HD

...due to broadcaster screw-ups.

If your going OTA, there are also signal strength issues. Do you have an ATSC/QAM tuner in the TV to test with? If not, PBS seems to be the Gold Standard...if that plays well but one of the networks does not...then it's probably the network.
