Is there a simple way to make skip fwd#2 also do track skip for music in SageMC?

I'm using SageMC and this is the one thing that doesn't work in a way that suits me. I'd like to hit the skip button and skip tracks instead of jumping 2.5 minutes in the track.

I'm pretty sure there's already a command for this even if it's not Skip#2, although off the top of my head I can't remember if it's the Channel up/down commands or something else.

I was actually wondering this as well. I would hate to re-map my #2 buttons, since I like the way they work during video playback.. I would just love some option to skip audio tracks without having to navigate to the skip button.

I've been trying to do this all night with no success. I may try and swap back to the custom MCE remote drivers and experiment with those.

Using native support, the skip #2 command is chapter skip in DVD as is ch+/-, but neither do track skip. I guess if I used Hip, i could make it send the keystrokes for DVD chapter skip, skip#2 and track skip.

That would also help with the other problem I have which is that I can't turn shuffle playback off and on without navigating to it. I did have the i button mapped to options, which was very handy but with native MCE, you can't remap that button.

According to the manual (p196), the 'Chan up/Pg up' and 'Chan down/Pg down' buttons skip tracks when music is playing. This should also work in SageMC.

Hmm, not sure if I understand the problem ...

In the SageMC music menus (My Music, Now Playing, etc) the skip fwd/back #2 commands are already mapped to track skip:

Skip Fwd: skip forward a certain amount of time
Skip Back: skip backward a certain amount of time
Skip Fwd#2: skip forward to next music track
Skip Back#2: skip backward to previous music track

Edit: and yes, as Mike said, Channel Up/Down should also skip tracks. Skip fwd/back #2 actually calls Channel Up/Down to perform this action.

Are you guys saying that this doesn't work for you ? Or do you expect this to work in other screens ? Btw, the above is referring to Sage commands, not specific buttons on your remote. You need to map those commands to the corresponding buttons you want to use.

Dirk

Only it doesn't. Maybe it's a version 5 thing. If I'm playing music and press skip #2, it jumps forward 2.5 minutes, just the same as when watching video. Maybe there's something wrong with my install but I can't think what it could be.

I beleive that is the case... Flachbar will probably chime in on this, but if I remember right, this was added in one of the recent revisions after version 5 was no longer supported.

Try the latest version of SageTV and SageMC, and I bet it will work.

That's a shame. I'm not going to upgrade because of the version 6 stuttering and FSE problems.

Is it something I could change myself using studio? I don't yet know how to use studio but there are several things I'd like to change so keep promising myself that I'll have a go at it.

I know on the current MC 6.3.2c that the FF/RW skips a few seconds and the FF2/RW2 buttons skipp a few extra seconds.

I didn't know about the channel up/down. that is good enough for me.
