MPEG Bit rates for SageRecorder encoding settings?

I have looked in the users manual and searched here in the forum and have not been able to find out what the bit rates are for the SageRecorder encoding modes:

Fair
Good
Great
MPEG2 Max Quality
SVCD Extra Long Play
SVCD Long Play
SVCD Standard Play
Best
CVD
DVD Extra Long Play
DVD Long Play
DVD Standard Play

My experience with "DVD Standard Play" is about 6500 bps.

1) Are the bit rates dependent on what capture card is used?

2) Is it possible to set a custom rate?

Thank you

You can view the detailed bit rate setting by looking in the Properties file for the specific application. There's also instructions to see custom rates at http://www.sage.tv/developers.html

I must be missing something? I checked the properties file (C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageRecorder\SageRecorder.Properties) and do not see anything I can correlate with the encoding options I mentioned above (i.e. "MPEG2 Max Quality"). I do see a reference to the audio bitrate:

mmc/audio_bitrate=224
mmc/audio_sampling=48000

Thanks for any help you can provide

Tom

Here's the breakdown. If you want an explanation of what each number correlates to see: http://www.sage.tv/HPquality.txt.

Best,384,48000,6666666
CVD,224,48000,3000000
DVD Extra Long Play,384,48000,4125000
DVD Long Play,384,48000,5750000
DVD Standard Play,384,48000,7250000
Fair,256,48000,2222222
Good,256,48000,3333333
Great,384,48000,4444444
MPEG2 Max Quality,384,48000,12575000
SVCD Extra Long Play,224,44100,1725000
SVCD Long Play,224,44100,2175000
SVCD Standard Play,224,44100,2575000

First number is audio bitrate, then audio sampling rate, then overall bitrate

SHS,

Can you explain a little more what you are asking for? Where would the app reside?

encoding quality setting

Hello

I read the following text !

http://sage.tv/2_papers/HPquality.txt

My question is ......

is this setting really for PVR 250/350

or is it also for any other TV card ?

I just downloaded Sagerecorder .... I couldn't see any encoding quality option ...
I see this posting but I am not sure whether it is also for other cards

if it is only for PVR 250/350 ........ what should others do ?
thanks

regards

Metin

What card do you have? The default settings may not be in the properties file, since that is what SageTV did too until recently. Some of the values would work with other cards, since it uses the same layout in SageTV for the new Plextor ConvertX tuner -- That tuner isn't supported by SageTVRecorder; I just mentioned it as an example of using similar settings.

I don't use SageTVRecorder, but I would think that you should be able to select the recording quality for any tuners it supports.

Hi again

I am using Pinnacle PCTV deluxe USB 2.0 ..... everything works perfect !

I just install it yesterday ..... and have not that much exprience with this software !

How can I find which value can work with my Hardware ?

will be great to find it out !
thanks
regards

metin

P.S: bye the way you should also add Pinnacle PVTV deluxe USB 2.0 to your supported hardwares ..

it works great ... and also its remote controller works perfect with sageTv and sagetv recorder ...

to make it work ... just to edit profiles.ini at the remote controler directory of Pinnacle !

if I would have time I could post it here but right not ...no time :-(
