HW req for commercial detection

What do you need for running comskip or ShowAnalyzer? core duo? 2GB memory?
Do they have to run after a file has been created or can they run with timeshifting/chase play...?

Depends - how many simultaneous shows, SD or HD, how fast are your drives....

I am running a mere Celeron 2gHz w/1 Gig, and I can process 3 SD shows at once while they are still recording, or 1 HD show while it is recording.

In my case, I'm running comskip (I used to use SA and sometimes still do) on a 600Mhz Pentium II with 512 of memory. It is a separate system and does all the processing across a gigabit network. The only problem I've had is if I try to do HD files it takes forever. SD seems to take 20 minutes for 1 hour show while I run 3 copies of comskip simultaneously on 3 different shows.

Thanks!
Any guess how much the time will change if I use a faster system...? Where is the primary bottleneck?

Comskip is pure CPU bound on any modern disk.
The benchmark for MPEG encoding/decoding is a very good measure for the scaling of the processing time.
